On Sept. 18, 2019, a longtime City employee Phil Banks, received recognition from Mayor lovely A warren as she dedicated an unnamed road to him for his vision that led to the cleanup of several Brownfield sites.
Throughout his career, Phil Banks put the community above all things and made sure the community improved. Now 1000 Driving Park Ave was once a Brownfield site, abandoned and contaminated with asbestos and other toxins.
Phil Banks, while working as the City’s Manager of Business Development in 1998, saw the potential of Brownfield sites as the right place for the development of jobs and industries. He helped the City gain the property, made it eligible for grant funding and cleanup.
Mayor Lovely Warren, City Council Vice President Willie J Lightfoot, some officials from the City of Rochester, and friends and family of Phil Banks were all present during the dedication at 1000 Driving Park.
